My Top 10 Albums of 2016

In my opinion, the only good thing to come out of 2016 was some bomb ass music. So many creative minds blessed us with their talent in beautiful albums this year.

Here we go friends - after lots of thought and personal battles - my top 10 favorite albums of 2016!! Please leave your top 10 in the comments below!

The Human Condition - Jon Bellion
The Human Condition is 1000000% my #1 album of the year. Jon's mind is incredibly complex. His team lives by the phrase "Beautiful Mind" after-all. Each song is meticulously put together by Jon himself, and after going to his concert this summer it was clear to me that he is as passionate about making his music as I am about listening to it!! Love him - y'all definitely need to check him out if you haven't already.

Joanne - Lady Gaga
If you haven't already seen it, I geeked out about this album already (check it!). This album is more beautiful every time I listen to it. This might be a top 10 album of all time for me tbh.

Blonde - Frank Ocean
I geeked about this album the day it came out as well (check it -part 2). Frank Ocean is an exquisite human being with the voice of an angel. That is all.

Coming Home - Leon Bridges
If you want to take a trip back to the 1960's listen to this album ASAP. Leon's voice is so smooth it'll make you melt. This soul album has had a place on my top 10 list since it first hit my eardrums.

Coloring Book - Chance The Rapper
Chance is the most controversial rapper on the scene at the moment. He refuses to sign with a record label to prove he has what it takes to climb to the top on his own - and he is definitely doing it. This album has a little bit of everything in it. A bit of rap, bit of R&B, bit of hip-hop - you name it, it's here. Definitely worth a listen!

Professional Rapper - Lil Dicky
Lil Dicky is a comedy rapper but the dude has some serious talent. His flow is incredible and his lyrics actually tell a story - unlike the "popular" rappers you hear on the radio today. This is his debut album and if the rest are anything like it, this guy will be big!

You're a Man Now Boy - Raleigh Ritchie
Game of Thrones fans will recognize Raleigh as Grey Worm, one of Khaleesi's trusty sidekicks. In this album he shows some serious R&B talent. His voice is pretty dope and his lyrics are deep. Check him out for sure!

Dangerous Woman - Ariana Grande
Ariana has some serious pipes, y'all. This girl definitely knows how to hit a note. Her newest album really rocked my socks this summer, too. Although it is more "mainstream", I really like Ariana's energy and style. She deserved a spot on this list.

The Divine Feminine - Mac Miller
I'll admit, I was a bit timid hitting play when this album first hit Spotify, but I am truly pleased! I haven't liked anything Mac has put out since Blue Slide Park in 2011. My favorite song off the album is definitely Dang! (feat. Anderson Paak). Great work Mac!

2016 was a rollercoaster, but we had some great music to listen to during our ride! Let's hope for even better records in 2017!!

From my house to yours, Happy Holidays & Happy New Year.
Keep Jammin'!

Joanne - Lady Gaga

First of all, Gaga is a queen and there is nothing you could say to change my mind. ESPECIALLY after listening to Joanne!!!!
Second, this new album is everything we didn't know we wanted from Gaga.
I think we can all agree that ARTPOP was more of an ARTFLOP, but Gaga really showed her talent in her collaboration album, Cheek to Cheek, with Tony Bennett. Gaga continues to show off her vocal talent throughout Joanne.

Joanne is the start of something beautiful for Gaga. She has stated that she wanted the focus to be on the lyrics of this album. She wanted the songs to sound more like a story than a melody. When writing the songs, Gaga pictured a girl in the middle of nowhere who would understand the lyrics and make a human connection to them. Gaga decided that in order to make this a reality she would have to mix up some genres including country, funk, pop, folk, electronic music, dance, & rock. What more could we ask for?! Then there's the emotional connection -- & she gave it to us on a silver platter. Gaga wanted us to be able to feel the heartbreak, desire, nostalgia, and frustration she was feeling while writing. In previous interviews, Gaga said she wanted Joanne to be a surprise for her audience. She described the production process as "a wonderful, soul-searching experience." Honestly, listening to the album is an equally wonderful and soul-searching experience. Thanks Gaga!!
Family is definitely an underlying theme throughout the album. The album is named after her father's late sister, Joanne Stefani Germanotta, who died at 19 years old in 1974 due to complications related to Lupus. Gaga has stated that although they never met, Joanne has always been the biggest figure in her life. She credits beating addiction as well as her success as a musician all to her Aunt Joanne. I think we all owe Aunt Joanne a big huge thank you for inspiring the genius that is Lady Gaga.
With the combination of emotional lyrics and creative genre mixes, Joanne has quickly become my favorite album of 2016. What are your favorite songs off the album so far? What do/don't you like about Gaga's new feel? Let's chat in the comments below!
