In Memory: Prince

As a bonus, I found this clip from Prince's MTV Unplugged session in 2004. He beautifully plays 5 songs in front of a live audience.

On April 21, 2016, our planet lost another legend in the music industry. Prince Rogers Nelson was found deceased in the elevator of his Minnesota home Thursday morning. He had previously been battling the flu, and the complications are believed to be the cause of this death.

Prince ruled the charts from the 70's to the 90's and will forever be the reason to party like it's 1999. Throughout his 30 years creating music, Prince won seven Grammys, an Oscar, five U.S. #1 hits, 39 albums, and 53 singles that charted. Prince was indeed a legend and holds a dear place in many of our hearts. Above, I have attempted to collect 10 of Prince's "Greatest Hits". Unfortunately, Prince never gave Spotify the rights to his music and I was unable to put together an actual playlist for you like I normally do, and instead linked to videos of his music videos and live performances. All you have to do in order to listen is click on the song titles above.

How have you been remembering Prince since you heard the news? How did his music affect your life? I would love to hear your stories in the comments below!

Rest in Purple, Prince. You will be dearly missed.

It's Grand Prix week Y'all!!!! If you're a Purdue grad, you know what that means.. PARTIES GALORE! I asked you guys on twitter what kind of party playlist you wanted to see this week, and Early 2000's won with 43% of the votes. I also decided to make this a longer playlist with 20 songs! Yeah, you're welcome ;)
The Early 2000's was an interesting time for "party music". We were escaping the unique sounds of the 90's and trying to branch out into a more dance friendly style of rap. Luckily, it worked out in our favor. We got some great hits like Izzo by JAY Z and It Wasn't Me by Shaggy out of the early aughts. Thanks for your creativity, fellas.
I hope you get some good memories out of partying to this mix! Let me know what you think in the comments below! Enjoy!!

You can listen to this week's mix here: Blooze

Hello Friends!! This week I went to Twitter and asked what kind of playlist you wanted to see, and you chose an R'n'B mix. I followed up with a poll asking if you liked 15 or 10 song playlists better, and almost everyone that responded said 15 song playlists were more enjoyable. I deliver to you... a 15 song R'n'B mix! I have included a couple different styles of R'n'B in this week's mix. I have your typical Miguel style of sexual rhythmic bluesy tunes, along with my preferred R'n'B, the soft rap style like Action Bronson's Baby Blue.
What image comes into your head when you hear R'n'B? For me, I picture a romantic night with champagne, hence this week's title: Blooze. Tell me what you would've named this mix and your mental picture in the comments! Also, If you have any suggestions for a playlist, be sure to let me know on the requests page

You can listen to this week's playlist here: Garage Band

Welcome to spring, friends! When the birds start chirping, my headphones start playing garage band style songs. Something about the echoing guitars and the heavy kick drums make me think spring. Courtney Barnett is one of my all time favorite artists (as you already know). Her strong garage band roots strongly influenced the creation of this week's mix. I hope you all feel the grooviness of this playlist flow through your body when you're out and about this spring, but if garage band isn't your cup of tea, let me know what is in the comments below and you may see a mix inspired by you on the blog soon! Enjoy!

You can listen to this week's playlist here: Fleeky

This one is for the ladies (and fabulous fellas)! I made this playlist for those of you who have a hard time getting ready for the day/night in a timely manner because you are constantly getting distracted by the music playing. We all have that one playlist we listen to while making our faces hella fleeky. This mix should suffice when it comes to dancing too hard to put on your brows and tapping your blush brush on your cheeks to the beat. What are your go-to songs when getting ready? I'd love to see some lists down in the comments!
Sidenote: SO sorry about the lack of a playlist last week! I was on spring vacation and needed a short break from the blog. Thank you for understanding, friends!
