After spending a week in Texas, I figured it was time for a Country playlist. I will fully admit that Country music is not my forte. I have disliked, and sometimes liked, country music for years. In my 4-H horse & pony years the world of country music was impossible to escape, so I learned to not completely hate it. If i'm ever listening to country, it's Rockabilly - Zac Brown Band for example. (FYI: ZBB puts on an amazing concert.) I fully believe that country music rules the radio in the summer. There's just something about the rhythm that makes road trips and pontoon rides that much more enjoyable. This is why the title of this week's playlist is Country Cruisin'. I want you to be able to put this playlist on while driving with friends or chillin' on the beach.
While in Texas last week, I watched a country music battle of the bands take place in the historic White Elephant Saloon. Josh Halverson competed with Big Joe Walker in the championship round. Josh Halverson is his band. Halverson's voice has more power than the instruments behind him. Josh is a singer/songwriter who carries an enormous amount of soul in his words. Halverson's music is fantastic, and would be great for people who like artists like Ray Lamontagne, Ryan Adams, and David Grey. Big Joe Walker on the other hand has a band. Walker can rely on his band members to fill the spaces between lyrics with entertainment. Big Joe truly is BIG Joe; his voice is big, his personality is big, and his person is definitely big. I believe Big Joe belongs on the radio. Big Joe Walker beat Josh Halverson in the finals, but showing the kind man he is, invited Halverson on stage to sing with them in their encore performance. I included the two bands in this week's playlist to shine a little light on the up & coming artists.

Please leave in the comments your absolute favorite country song to cruise to.

Also, don't forget to subscribe! (I am currently having some technical difficulties with the mailing service but it will be fixed soon!)
